What is a chat?

A chat is a communication channel within a Workspace - similar to a task, but without status and priority fields. It is designed for team conversations, discussions and file sharing.

Creating a chat

  1. Select a Workspace.
  2. Click “+ Add chat” (or “+” in the menu).
  3. Enter the chat name and select the participants.
  4. Click “Save”.

AI Assistant: “Create a chat called X in Workspace Y”.

Sending messages (Enter / Shift+Enter)

  • Enter - sends the message (Ctrl/Cmd+Enter also works).
  • Shift + Enter - starts a new line (so you can continue writing in the same message).
  • Merging messages (as in Slack): when you send several messages one after another (within 5 minutes) and nobody else posts in the meantime, the content is appended to the previous message - it appears as a single entry in the thread (without a grey bar) and is edited as a whole. Messages with attachments and questions for the AI Assistant always create a separate entry.
  • A failed send does not lose your text: if a message cannot be sent (no network connection or a server error), the content returns to the message field and a notification explains what went wrong. If you have written something new in the meantime, the unsent content is saved as a draft and returns the next time you open that thread.
  • Thread drafts: an unfinished message stays with its thread - switching to another task or chat (or even closing the browser) does not delete it, and when you return, you will find it in the field where you were writing it. The draft disappears when you send the message or clear the field yourself; unused drafts are deleted after two weeks.
  • “New” line: when you open a thread with unread messages, a blue New line appears above the oldest unread message, and the view is positioned with a few older entries above the line for context. The messages are already marked as read, so the line gently fades after a few seconds.

Messages in a chat

It works in the same way as the messages section in a task:

  • You can write text and add attachments (use the paperclip 📎 in the editor's top bar, drag and drop files into the window or paste from the clipboard with Ctrl/Cmd+V - a screenshot pasted into the editor is added to the content, while a file/image pasted outside the editor becomes an attachment)
  • The Improve text icon (✨ wand) in the toolbar uses AI to refine your text (see “AI Assistant”)
  • The To-do list icon (a square with a tick, next to the numbered list) creates a task list: in the editor, you see boxes that can be ticked, and once sent, the list is clickable - completed items are crossed out, and a progress bar appears below the list (“2 of 4 done”). Checkbox states are shared with all participants and saved immediately (just like lists from the AI Assistant). Each completed item shows who ticked it - a mini avatar on the right; hover over it (or tap it on a phone) to see the person's first name, surname and the date in a tooltip. Unticking an item removes the avatar
  • The </> Code icon inserts a code block - once sent, the code is syntax-highlighted and includes a copy button and a language label (when the language is known); AI-generated blocks with a specified language (e.g. `sql ) display it in the top-left corner
  • Clickable links - an address entered in the content (https://…, http://…, www.…) becomes an active link that opens in a new tab once sent (blue, or indigo in a private conversation with the AI Assistant)
  • The Draw icon opens the drawing window - a freehand drawing (optionally on an uploaded background) is inserted into the message content. The drawing is also saved to Files in that chat's folder. The toolbar contains two separate options: the bucket icon selects the drawing background (white / dark / transparent - the last option saves only the drawing, without a background), while the sun/moon icon switches the theme of the entire window. Both choices are remembered.
  • Drawing on a received image: click the image in the message, then select Draw on image in the preview (the pen icon next to download). The “Draw” window opens with that image as the background - mark what you need on it, then click Insert to add the finished drawing to the message field. The browser prevents images from another server from being saved - if this happens, the app will let you know rather than silently losing the drawing.
  • The paperclip (📎) “Files” icon in the top bar opens the “[Chat name] / Files” window with all attachments from that chat; clicking a file opens the preview, while the arrow on the right downloads it
  • An attachment in the conversation works in the same way: clicking the row opens a preview in the Files window, while clicking the arrow downloads it
  • Add a reaction to a message: hover over the message and click + next to the author's name, then select one of four icons: OK, Looking, Work in progress, Done. Reactions appear as chips with a count below the message - only where someone has reacted. Hovering over a chip shows who reacted; clicking it adds or removes your reaction
  • Quote in reply: from the message menu (⋮ next to the name), select Quote in reply - an “You are replying…” bar appears above the message field (you can cancel it with × or by pressing Esc when the field is empty). The sent reply includes a quote block; clicking the quote scrolls to the original message and highlights it. If the original has been deleted, the quote displays “The quoted message has been deleted”
  • Message grouping: consecutive messages sent by the same person within 15 minutes are displayed under one heading (hover to see the time of each message). Days are separated by “Today” / “Yesterday” / date dividers
  • Favourites: the star next to the person’s name (or in the ⋮ menu) highlights the message with a gold bar and background
  • Mention @: type @ in the message (at the beginning or after a space) - a list of people will appear above the editor (as in Slack); continue typing to narrow down the list, select using the ↑/↓ arrow keys + Enter or by clicking, or press Esc to close it. The same list is also available under the @ icon in the editor’s top bar (next to the formatting options)
  • There are two AI buttons next to the reply field: “AI Assistant” (a private question mode - only you can see the question and answer) and “Organise” (AI organises and summarises the thread’s messages); see the “AI Assistant” section for details
