The Notification Centre is a small, dark “island” at the edge of the app. It brings together all notifications from the outside world: new messages, @mentions, new emails, new tasks and chats, status changes and reminders. Brief app messages (such as “Saved”, errors and upload progress) appear in the same style - as dark pills emerging beside the island; those with buttons are displayed as larger cards. Messages about your own actions do not increase the notification count.

How to read the island

  • A thin line at the edge (notch) - all quiet, with nothing unread. The Island stays hidden so it does not take up space.
  • A flowing coloured line - you have unread notifications and the Island is hidden. Hover over the edge (or click the line) to bring it back.
  • A pill with a counter - the number of unread items. Hover over it to see the breakdown by category, each with its own icon and colour: ✉ mail · ☑ tasks (new tasks, status changes, approaching due dates) · 💬 conversations (chats and task threads) · @ mentions · 📅 calendar (events and reminders) · 👥 shared (a note or file shared directly with you) · ✨ AI Assistant (suggestions and replies received while the window was hidden) · ⭐ Open Space (points earned, streak bonuses and promotions in the team game) · ⬇ updates (a new version of the application ready to install - clicking the item opens Settings → Updates; this category is only visible to administrators. Once the version is installed, the item disappears automatically - including when someone else installs the update). Hover over an individual chip to expand its label (for example, “Mentions”) - you do not have to guess what the icon means. Clicking the pill opens the list panel.

What the counter shows

The counter on the pill tells you how many items are waiting - and it is the same number shown on the installed application’s icon. It includes:

  • unread threads: emails in inboxes, tasks and chats with new messages - exactly the numbers shown next to inboxes and Workspaces in the left-hand column (including older unread items from before the application was opened),
  • other notifications: mentions, calendar reminders and events, shared notes and files, AI Assistant suggestions, Open Space and an update ready to install.

The first rows in the panel are summaries: “Mail - 11 unread messages”, “Tasks - 2 tasks with new messages”. Clicking one of these rows takes you straight to the relevant place: Mail opens the “All” inbox, while Tasks and Chats narrow the list using the “New messages” filter (a dot next to the Filters icon reminds you that the list is filtered - one click on “Reset” restores it). Standard notifications appear below, each with its own time.

“Mark as read” clears notifications immediately, but for summaries (Mail, Tasks, Messages) it asks: “Mark as read: 12 messages in Mail?”. Once confirmed, the messages really are marked as read - including the counters next to inboxes and Workspaces in the left-hand column. If you have selected a category tab, the question and action apply only to that category, so one click will never clear more than you can see on screen. The question is deliberate: this changes items in the inbox rather than simply clearing an entry from the Island - clicking “Cancel” leaves everything as it was.

Notifications disappear once the matter is dealt with. Opening a task thread, chat or email removes its notifications from the Island - “Mark as read” in the list works the same way. Mail: the Island only reports emails you have not yet read - a message read in the meantime (including in webmail or on your phone) will not trigger a notification, and an entry for a thread read elsewhere disappears the next time the Mail list is refreshed. Notifications older than a week disappear automatically when the application starts. This means the counter shows what is genuinely waiting rather than a history of the past few days.

Badge on the application icon. If you use Task Manager installed as an application (in a separate window - “Install” in your browser), the number of waiting items appears on a red badge next to the icon in the Dock (macOS) or taskbar (Windows) - just like in messaging apps. The badge counts unread tasks and chats, as well as unread emails (in other words, what is shown on Workspace and inbox tiles), plus Island notifications that are not included in any of those counters: calendar reminders, shared notes and files, Assistant suggestions or an update ready to install - exactly the same as the counter on the Island. It disappears when there is nothing left to review. Note: the number continues to update while the application is open; once it is closed, the last known value remains until the application is opened again. There is no badge in a regular browser tab - this feature is reserved for the installed version.

  • Notification card - when something new arrives, the Island turns into a single line for a few seconds: who · what. The ↗ icon opens the source, while the clock icon postpones it (the notification remains in the panel). Hovering over it stops it from disappearing.
  • Panel - a list of unread notifications. Clicking an item opens the relevant content: a task or chat thread, a message in Mail, Calendar, a note in the Notes window, Files under “Shared with me”, or the AI Assistant window. The item disappears from the list (read items do not linger).
  • Tabs in the panel - below the heading is a row of switches: All and one for each category with notifications. Clicking a chip on the pill opens the panel directly on that category (for example, clicking “Tasks” → tasks only), while clicking the orb or an empty area of the pill opens “All”. When a category becomes empty, the panel automatically returns to “All”.
  • “Mark as read” clears what you are currently viewing: only the selected category when a tab is active, or the entire list under “All”.

What you will not find in the Island: items shared with an entire Workspace (by definition, they concern everyone, so they would only create noise) or your own actions. You can disable any category under Settings → Profile → In-app notifications.

Island position

By default, the Island sits in the centre of the top edge, above the open thread. In the panel footer, you will find a position icon - each click moves the Island: top → right side → bottom. Your choice is remembered in this browser. On mobile, the Island is always at the top.

Useful details

  • When you are writing a message, cards do not pop up - the Island simply updates the count quietly.
  • The Ctrl+. shortcut shows and hides the Island.
  • The down arrow icon (in the panel footer) hides the Island in the notch whenever you want.
  • Unread notifications are stored in this browser (up to 100 items).
  • Browser system notifications (push notifications) continue to work as before - the Island does not replace them, but complements them while the application is open.

Brain keeps track of your day

The Notification Centre automatically reminds you about what you have planned - without any action on your part:

  • 15 minutes before a calendar event, you will receive a card and a small countdown pill will appear next to the Island (for example, “16:00 · in 12 min”). Clicking the pill opens Calendar; the pill disappears once the event begins.
  • When an event begins, the Island displays a “Now: ...” card.
  • One hour before a task’s due date, a card reminds you about it - clicking it opens the task. A task with a date but no time is treated like an all-day calendar entry, with the due time set to the end of the working day: the reminder arrives at 16:00 and the card says “today · no time”.
  • Morning briefing - once a day, the first time you open the application after 6:00, a “Good morning” card appears. Below the date is a one-sentence summary (“Today: 3 due dates and 2 events”), followed by a list of items sorted by time: the icon indicates whether it is a task or event, with the time shown on the right. Every row is clickable - a task opens its thread, while an event opens Calendar. If there are more than four items, the final row (“+ 2 items in Calendar”) opens the full day view; the “Calendar” button does the same. If there is nothing scheduled for the day, the briefing does not appear.

All these reminders also appear in the list in the Island panel, so nothing gets lost, even if a card disappears unnoticed.

When you are in another browser tab, the notification card has nowhere to appear - the reminder is then sent as a system notification (the one in the corner of the screen). This requires one-time permission: Settings → Profile → Browser notifications. Without permission, the reminder waits in the Island list and you will see it when you return to the app. When the app is completely closed, email is the only channel - select “Also send an email notification” for the event (background delivery is handled by CRON, which the administrator configures once for the entire installation).

AI Suggestions

When the administrator enables this feature (Settings → AI → “AI Suggestions in the Notification Centre”), AI periodically reviews your recent conversations and highlights matters that may need attention - for example, a request with a due date that nobody has answered, or a task that has stalled despite its approaching due date. The suggestion appears as a card with a live orb and has two actions: ↗ opens the related task or chat, while the clock snoozes it for 2 hours. AI only reads threads you participate in - never other people's private replies or anyone's mail.

AI Assistant avatar

The AI Assistant now has one live avatar throughout the app - the same animated orb that lives in the Island. You will see it next to AI replies in threads, in the Assistant window and on the “AI Assistant” / “Organise” buttons next to the reply field. The private AI Assistant (a conversation visible only to you) has a purple orb with a ring - so you can immediately see which reply is just for you.
